Danville is justifiably proud of its one time resident, playwright Eugene O'Neill. He & his wife lived in Danville after he won the Nobel Prize in Literature. Residents of Danville are served by the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. The district encompasses 35 schools with an enrollment of only 28,000. The Athenian Schools, a private college preparatory school for grades 6 through 12 is also here.Danville schools are considered to be some of the best in the state with 98% attending college.
